Rating : - Great hardware, good watch, bad countdown timer The watch is a very durable, well built timepiece. It is a little on the bulky side, but for what it offers, its worth it. If you are looking for a vibration function, but have an active lifestyle (like myself) this is definitely the watch to get. Because of my job, I find myself in situations where I want to wake myself without waking up everyone around me, and the vibration function works beautifully. Its plenty strong (compared to what I expected) and with a little bit of practice is more than enough to wake me every morning. (I would start out using an audible alarm in addition to the vibration at first, I used to set the vibration about 2-5 minutes before my bedside audible alarm would go off, pretty soon my body woke me up to the vibration instead).
As far as the "software" is concerned.. I do like the snooze feature, its a nice thing to have a 5 minute snooze alarm on a watch, without being able to accidentally turn it off. The databank is pretty much the same thing as any other databank watch, I do like the multiple alarms (4 i think?) as well (only one of them has a snooze feature).
I don't like the countdown timer at all though, and its one of my biggest pet peeves with this watch. It has a "warning" alarm before the actual alarm goes off at the end of the countdown. The "warning" alarm cannot be silenced (as far as I can tell) and while its activating, you cannot stop the countdown or do anything with the watch. its a 1-5 minute warning before the end of the countdown, but as I used to use the countdown timer all the time on my old watch, this feature is so noisy that I cannot use my watch for this anymore. If you want an alert when the pizza, or popcorn, or taking a quick 20 minute nap, its almost easier for me to just set a regular alarm as opposed to using that countdown timer.
but, thats my biggest pet peeve. if there were a way to disable that countdown timer 5 minute alert it'd get 5/5... but. oh well. perhaps you'll not care about the countdown timer as much as me, or perhaps you'll use it in a manner that is easier for you... it vibrates or beeps in a certain recognizable pattern, which might be useful for counting down for something - perhaps the start of a race (5 minutes, 4:59, 58, 57, etc..)
the only other thing that bothers me is that you have to switch all alerts at the same time between audible and vibration - if you could set it per alert (audible hour alert, vibration wake up alarm, audible this, vibration that..) that would make it a bit more convenient to use, but its pretty easy to switch back and forth, and with a little planning it doesn't seem to get in the way.
its a good watch though, if you want a strong vibration, excellent durability and hey - maybe you're into the databank thing (i thought thats what a cellphone is for) this is your watch. Customer Review : | |
