Rating : - Fickle Seiko This is a big, heavy, bulky watch. Either you like the style or you don't. I've had comments either way. 'nuff said.
As for automatic watches, if you're like me and you have a few watches you alternate between, think twice before you get an automatic watch. You may get tired of re-seting the time if you don't wear it every day.
As for THIS automatic watch, I got it from Seiko as a replacement for a Seiko Kinetic I had problems with (that's another story). When I started using it, I found it would stop after a few hours of non use and one time it stopped in the middle of the day while wearing it! It basically would stop almost every nite and would have to be reset, of course. (I had asked about this before I agreed to take it in trade and was told it would stay wound for 'a day or so') Apparently, I had used up my "favors" with Seiko and they would not take it back.
I was just about at wits end when one day I wore it while being very active at a picnic and, low and behold, i found it had stayed wound for almost a full day! I was shocked and pleased! To this day, I still don't know what made the difference. Whether it was my desk job that doesn't typically provide enough movement to fully wind it or whether that full day of motion was enough to smooth-up the movement, 'break-in' the spring or maybe wear off some burrs. But, whatever it was, it has been working fine ever since (about 1 1/2 years).
It still doesn't last more than 12-18 hours, so it will stop after a weekend of non-use, but I have come to accept that as the price of an auto watch. If you want to keep it running while wearing your other watch(s), just shake it vigorously for 30 seconds once or twice a day.
Accuracy has been acceptable. It's rated for +/-15 sec/day and I have found it will generally be within 5-10 sec/day. Customer Review : | |
